Codemasters Online Unveils The Lord of the Rings Online™️: Siege of Mirkwood


Codemasters Online today unveiled The Lord of the Rings Online™️: Siege of Mirkwood, the digital expansion to the award-winning massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG).

Siege of Mirkwood will expand the online world of Middle-earth where players will join forces to press further eastward into the dark, foreboding and treacherous forest of Mirkwood and take part in the epic conclusion to Volume II of The Lord of the Rings Online.

Siege of Mirkwood will be available as a digital download this autumn and provide players with an increased level cap, a new region including the legendary evil fortress of Dol Guldur, major enhancements to combat and Legendary Items and the introduction of Skirmishes, a new system where players will train customizable soldiers and take them into battle as part of the War of the Ring.

“2009 has been a year of unprecedented growth for The Lord of the Rings Online and the launch of Siege of Mirkwood will end the year with a bang,” said Jeffrey Steefel, Executive Producer of The Lord of the Rings Online. “As the game expands east of the Misty Mountains, players will face the raging war and shadow that has spread across Middle-earth and the new Skirmish system will thrust players and their soldiers into the War of the Ring.”

so..... Codemaster knows about the release of AION, and have some fear..... and.... they think: ummmmm we will loose a lot of players... so... lets do a new crappy expansion!... with only more good armors, and weapons, and all good things for FREEPS!...oohhh... and lets give em new levels, so they can have more skills !.... and for creeps.... ummmmm...... naaahhhhhh... they dont need nothing, they ARE BALANCED! ..... yay!.....

just can say 1 thing: GOOD LUCK THERE CREEPS!..... you will need it.....

Pues que les aproveche... Es un juego PvE... con un parche PvP para mantenerles ocupado.

Aion es al revés. Un juego claramente PvP con mucho PvE, y que incluso este último puede ser abordado en cualquier momento y convertirse en PvP...

Tras 9 años de juegos masivos online (MMOG) he descubierto que sólo el PvP me mantiene despierto por las tardes, mañanas, o madrugadas. Incluso a veces de tanta acción debo darme una ducha para quitarme tanta adrenalina.

Resumen:
sólo PvE = Sleep Sleep Sleep

sólo PvP = bounce pale bounce

Aion = What a Face bounce cyclops Twisted Evil

I just think that Mirkwood and the current "expansion" is material they were doing as "free" content updates during 2009, but due some problems (DDO, China release or Harry Potter Online (?)) they were more than 8 months to 1 year delayed.

They could have waited until Summer 2010 to release expansion with Rohan but since they said that were doing yearly expansion and they knew that the PVE people would tire soon of level 60 they rushed the free content update as an expansion and gave new 5 levels.

All this about PVE... about PVP it only proves that Turbine is completely stupid because monster play concept is very good and a good addition a to a PVE game since PVP is not affecting PVE and gives the PVE hordes something to do when tired of grind. They just would need a dedicated developer to PVP that plays regularly in boths sides to understand the problems and solutions.
